Job Summary:
A prestigious fine dining restaurant in Christchurch is seeking an experienced Chef de Partie with a strong background in high-end cuisine. You will lead your own section of the kitchen, ensuring consistent delivery of exquisitely plated dishes that reflect contemporary New Zealand and French culinary influences.

Key Responsibilities:
- Manage and operate a specific section (e.g., grill, garnish, sauce, pastry) independently
- Ensure mise en place is prepared, organized, and of the highest standard before service
- Execute consistent plating and portioning for lunch and dinner services
- Work closely with the Sous Chef and Head Chef to develop seasonal menu items
- Train and guide junior commis and demi chefs in your section
- Monitor inventory, portion control, and reduce wastage
- Handle ordering and stock rotation for assigned section
- Maintain strict hygiene and sanitation standards in line with HACCP
- Collaborate with the team to ensure smooth kitchen operations during peak hours
- Uphold quality and timing standards under pressure
Candidate Profile:
- Minimum 3+ years of experience in fine dining, luxury hotels, or Michelin-inspired kitchens
- Expertise in Contemporary New Zealand and French cuisine (a must)
- Excellent plating and presentation skills
- Strong organizational ability to manage mise en place and prep timelines
- Deep understanding of ingredient quality, texture, and flavor balancing
- Ability to work under pressure and meet exacting quality standards
- Certification from a recognized culinary school or equivalent preferred
- Passionate, focused, and reliable team player with leadership potential
- Familiar with food safety laws and commercial kitchen hygiene standards
Salary & Perks:
- Annual Salary: NZD 55,000 – 62,000
