Job Description:

A renowned premium steakhouse located in Richmond, BC is hiring a hands-on Sous Chef to support daily kitchen operations. The ideal candidate should be passionate about high-quality grilled meats, contemporary plating, and effective kitchen leadership. You’ll assist the Head Chef in menu execution, supervise line staff, and uphold consistent standards in food preparation and safety. This is a great opportunity for a motivated chef looking to grow into a senior culinary leadership role.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise and coordinate the activities of kitchen staff on all stations including grill, sauté, and cold prep.
  • Execute the Head Chef’s vision and ensure all dishes meet brand quality and presentation standards.
  • Maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) across prep, service, and cleaning routines.
  • Monitor portion control, ingredient rotation, and station readiness.
  • Ensure food is prepared safely, in accordance with HACCP and local health regulations.
  • Assist in training new hires and junior staff, focusing on knife skills, timing, and presentation.
  • Support menu development, including daily specials and seasonal updates.
  • Take responsibility for ordering supplies, inventory checks, and cost control.
  • Maintain kitchen cleanliness and equipment maintenance schedules.
  • Fill in on stations as needed during peak hours or staff shortages.

Salary & Benefits:

  • Annual Salary: CAD 55,000 – 65,000 (based on experience and skill level)

Educational & Experience Requirements:

  • Culinary diploma or certificate preferred (not mandatory with experience)
  • 3–5 years of experience in a full-service kitchen
  • Previous experience as Line Cook or Jr. Sous Chef in a steakhouse or grill environment
  • Proficient in meat temperature accuracy, grill timing, and protein handling
  • Knowledge of food safety standards and kitchen discipline
  • Red Seal Certification is an asset but not required
