Sous Chef

Job Description:

A premium spa and wellness resort in Sherbrooke, Quebec is hiring a dedicated Sous-Chef to support its holistic food philosophy. The ideal candidate will be responsible for preparing nutritious, aesthetically pleasing meals for spa clients, retreat guests, and wellness-focused travelers. Emphasis is placed on seasonal produce, dietary restrictions, and elegant presentation.

French language skills are highly preferred due to the local clientele and workplace environment.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Executive Chef in preparing health-oriented meals including gluten-free, vegetarian, and low-sodium dishes
  • Create menus that reflect wellness, detox, and nourishment without compromising on taste or presentation
  • Supervise kitchen staff and ensure smooth service during breakfast, lunch, and dinner shifts
  • Uphold strict hygiene and food safety standards
  • Maintain kitchen organization and cleanliness
  • Source fresh local produce and support sustainable sourcing practices
  • Monitor food stock levels and assist in ordering supplies
  • Adapt to dietary customizations for spa guests
  • Lead by example in maintaining a calm, composed atmosphere in the kitchen

Salary & Benefits:

  • Salary Range: CAD 35,000 – 52,000/year (based on experience & language fluency)

Educational & Experience Requirements:

  • Culinary diploma preferred
  • 2–4 years of experience in a hotel, wellness resort, or fine-dining restaurant
  • Knowledge of dietary preferences and alternative cooking methods (steaming, low-sugar baking, macrobiotic dishes)
  • Calm and team-oriented working style
  • French language fluency is highly preferred
