Job Description
This is an entry-level chef position ideal for candidates looking to build a strong foundation in a busy kitchen setup. The Commis Chef will be responsible for supporting the Chef de Partie and Sous Chef in the preparation and execution of dishes across multiple sections. You will be expected to follow standard operating procedures, assist in mise en place, and maintain high levels of cleanliness and organization.
Job Responsibilities
Assist in daily food preparation under supervision of senior chefs
Follow standardized recipes and portion sizes with accuracy
Maintain hygiene and sanitation standards as per HACCP and food safety requirements
Label and store food items properly, minimizing wastage
Clean workstations, equipment, and kitchen tools thoroughly
Support with buffet setup, replenishment, and basic live counters if required
Adapt to various kitchen sections, including hot, cold, and pastry if assigned
Follow instructions promptly and contribute to kitchen teamwork and efficiency
Job Requirements
Certificate III in Commercial Cookery or equivalent international qualification
Basic knowledge of knife skills, cooking methods, and food safety regulations
Ability to learn quickly and handle pressure during peak service periods
Good communication skills in English and willingness to work flexible hours
Physically fit and able to stand for extended periods in a fast-paced kitchen
A positive attitude, eagerness to learn, and professional work ethic
Salary and Benefits
Salary offered is between AUD 50000 to 58000 annually, depending on experience and qualifications
