Job Description:
Join a prestigious hospitality group in Montreal as a Sous Chef for luxury banquets and high-profile events. This role is ideal for a talented, organized, and motivated chef with experience in large-scale culinary production. You’ll work alongside an award-winning Executive Chef to deliver world-class dining experiences for weddings, corporate events, and gala dinners. Precision, creativity, and leadership are key attributes for this role.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist the Executive Chef in managing banquet kitchen operations across multiple events.
- Supervise junior chefs, commis, and stewarding teams to ensure consistent quality and timely execution.
- Maintain high culinary standards in line with international plating and presentation expectations.
- Develop mise en place systems and event-specific prep schedules for high-volume service.
- Coordinate logistics with service, purchasing, and event planning departments.
- Ensure food safety, hygiene, and HACCP compliance in all areas of production.
- Innovate with seasonal and locally sourced ingredients to create customized menus.
- Help manage food cost, inventory, and kitchen staffing for banquet operations.
Eligibility Criteria:
- Minimum 5 years of professional culinary experience in banquets or large-scale luxury events.
- Degree or diploma in Hotel Management/Culinary Arts preferred.
- Strong knowledge of continental, international, and plated buffet cuisines.
- Ability to manage high-pressure environments and lead large teams.
- Previous overseas work experience or exposure to international kitchens is an advantage.
IELTS Language Requirement for Canada (Work Permit Visa):
- IELTS General Training with a minimum overall score of 5.0 to 6.0, depending on the visa stream.
- Individual bands should not be less than 4.5.
